That’s what I’ve been doing. Well, not really. I’ve been focusing more on playing out and running around with the holidays and all. Trying to decide which direction to take with this blog thing. I appologize for not having posted much in the last few busy months.

Thank you so much for making 2010 a magical time of learning and musical fun, I appreciate everyone who helped me make it to 2011 with such good vibes and bright eyes. Here’s to 2011! Make it awesome.

Speaking of awesome:

I want more of this in the New Year! More dancing hard–and not the type I experienced at the Elbo Room the other night. Please, folks, if you’re on the dance floor: try to remember it’s a DANCE floor. It’s ok if you get bumped by a elbow or have a foot stepped on now and again when it’s packed. That’s how you know it’s a good dance party! Ok, let’s work together out there!

In other news:::::::::I’m planning a super-special dance event in SF for February right before Valentimes Day, more info to follow! Stay tuned! And let’s just say it’s going to have a bobby soxer-50’s dress-up feeling. And you’re invited to dress up!

One of my goals in the coming year is to start making and posting mix tapes as well, so keep your ears open. Talk to you soon.

Hearts,

S

ps>>thanks for the inspiration, Oui. gracias.

As you know, I am making a creepy Babe Cave party happen on the 31st with my friend Sirbo Turbo (aka Robert from Kreamy ‘Lectric Santa)>>here is the frightening flyer my friend Melissa made for the occasion:

The aforementioned M will be in the house painting faces and on hand with various costume items to help you prepare for the evening. Same as usual, 12-4pm at Laszlo (2534 Mission Street//SF)

There are going to be all kinds of things going on Saturday over in the Oaklands as well. I am going to be throwing down some vinyl at one and maybe TWO house parties. Details to follow—for now, here is a sneak preview of my Hiphoctopus costume I have been working on.

Special thanks to Natalie for her sewing help. I LOVE HALLOWEEN!

Not enough exercise today? Too much spice in my food? Two coffee-afternoon? (ONE, TWO) The heat? I dunno but I am definitely U.A.N.>>

Getting very stoked for OCTOBER, y’all. One of my favorite months in this BIG COUNTRY

Planning an extra-special Babe Cave-O-Ween extravaganza, starring Sirbo Turbo, me as a giant octopus, and M as the resident costumer. She’ll be there raising $$ for her Sunset Boat Party ticket. B/C if M wants anything, it’s to dance.

You’re not gonna wanna miss this one. Flier coming soon. Oh, and one more thing>>>

Cuz I’m not sleeeeeeeeepinnnnn

Saw a movie last night I LOVED and decided to base the next Pretty City basically around the amazing patterns and fashion in Almodovar’s Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. Watch the trailer but prepare yourself for the rich color and giant projection on the wall of Laszlo as I spin all kinds of 80’s electro funky records and you sip Super Gail’s rad cocktail of the evening.

All while wearing a pattern>>think PLAID, GINGHAM, LARGE ROSES, 80’s print blouses and pastel business suits with mini-skirt bottoms. AWWW YEA I WANNA SEE IT.

Thinking the second movie might be Who’s That Girl? But taking suggestions…

Pretty City is a thing I’m doing every 2nd Tuesday over in Laszlo (aka the Babe Cave when it becomes evening-time) with my pal Super Gail. She’s on bar, I’m on decks, Ginger brings the fashion and we all have fun. Movies drinks and dancin. 10-2 October 12. GET READY.

Looking for something to punch up my Layover eves…anyone interested in food makings?? Very, very excited. And, as always, THE BABE CAVE remains>>Sundays 12-4 also at Laszlo over in SF. free donuts!

Last year you may remember me talking about going up to Mendocino around this time of year to dj the excellent Invisible Ocean festival. My friend Eli has put it together again this year with EVEN MORE AWESOMENESS (if that’s even possible). Take a look at the flyer:

There’s going to be something like 26 bands playing, tons of artists and crafters, sunshine, trees, knees, and good times. Plus a farm-fresh dinner every night. AND CAMPING! With your favorite artists and musicians. No back stage, totally kid-friendly (with late-night time goodness as well). Movies, projections, horseshoes, frisbee, the coast a short drive away, and just a really good time.

If you go to the website, you can read up on the bands, get directions, and most importantly: BUY TICKETS. If you buy them now you are getting a discount/being entered into a rad drawing for some very cool stuff. It is a bargain for all the goodness you will experience, I can’t suggest it enough.

Oh! And I’ll be on hand both nights to ensure (along with Hit the Deck and Jonny One-Time) that some serious late-night dance parties go down. We have been gathering our records/ideas together for weeks now. Serious boogie-ing coming your way.

Oh hi. I know, I know. I dropped the ball a minute in the blog world, but sometimes stepping away from the computer is necessary. In the meantime I collected more more more records, planted a garden (well, RE-planted some of it—damn snails!), and went to Nebraska to visit the fam. I forget just how big the sky can get sometimes:

Now, my loves, I am back. I am ready to jam and dance and play with you again. Last night was a lot of fun at Ye Olde Missouri Lounge, I hope you had a good time too. My favorite jam of the evening? Perhaps it was Atlantic Starr’s “Sexy Dancer,” which I can’t find on youtube but if you go here, you can click the top link and listen to it. Unh! It’s so good! I was also a big fan of this particular jam, and especially of watching everyone slowly get on board with me after a minute or two.

Oh yes. I may have been absent a minute, but we know there’s always tomorrow. We be jammin! We be jammin!

ok. back to the garden. xox
