Usually I find Berkeley humorless, but this day I stood in the street and laughed heartily. This joint (no pun intended) was positively BUMPING this song as I passed, not what I expected–but what a delight. Thanks for the giggle, Big Al. Please enjoy (keep in mind it was 10:32 am):

a.) big al’s fields of gold

ooh new Chromeo. I can’t help it, the dancing is pretty tasty in their newest vid:

the first time my friend Gabe played them for me I thought they were an old school band, they remind me a lot of the old school electro funk I would hear my friend Ira playing at the time. Kano, Klymaxx, Sylvester, etc.

here’s a remixed version of those first jams I heard:

pretty funkehhhhhh, innit?

And thank YOU, New Wave! The jams at Pretty Penny were fantastic today, almost my favorite part. Sir Justin was behind the counter and responsible for ringing up my cool new animal print dress and bumping the ipod jams that made it all so good.

My two faves? “Domino Dancing” by The Pet Shop Boys (played loud, please):

AND “Song For A Future Generation” by the B-52’s where the band rocks some serious fashions themselves. Not to mention amazing beehives and bow-tie hair. Please, please enjoy:

Thanks Pretty Penny, for the dress! And thanks, Justin, for the jams! xo DTM

No wonder, as he a.) is awesome and b.) worked with Chasz Jankel, whom I also love. CansaFis just gifted me (because he is THE BEST) with the excellent LP “Lord Upminster” Dury & Jankel made with SLY AND ROBBIE. Pretty amazing, it’s being played on repeat as I make lunch up in here.

Coming soon to a babe cave near you:

hit me with your rhythm stick

I can’t find the youtube vids I want for the songs I’m diggin today but here’s a little of THIS to tide you over until I do.

ps- there’s some interesting reading about Mr. Dury on his Wiki Page–and if you see this record out and about, snatch it up.
